Chalk the Block: How Love Louder Is Turning Oklahoma City Sidewalks Into a Canvas for Community

Before the parade floats roll through 39th Street, before the music starts, before the crowds gather in celebration, something colorful is taking shape in Oklahoma City.

On June 4, the Love Louder campaign is inviting the community to help transform the streets surrounding Pride on 39th into a living message of visibility, love, and connection through Chalk the Block, a public art activation designed to bring people together one message at a time.

As part of Prism Haus’s larger Love Louder community campaign, Chalk the Block offers something beautifully simple: an open invitation to show up, get creative, and leave behind a message the city can see. Whether that message is a word of encouragement, a declaration of identity, a celebration of Pride, or simply a reminder that people are loved exactly as they are, the goal is the same—to make visibility tangible, and sometimes the most powerful messages aren’t delivered through microphones or social media, S\sometimes they’re written directly onto the pavement.

A Community Activation Rooted in LOVE

Love Louder was created around a larger idea: in a world that often feels increasingly divided, disconnected, and emotionally loud in all the wrong ways, we still have the ability to choose love over it all.

Launching during Pride Month, the campaign uses public storytelling, community activations, and bold visual messaging to encourage Oklahoma City to show up louder with love. Chalk the Block is one of the most community-centered expressions of that mission.

Unlike traditional event activations that focus on passive attendance, this experience invites direct participation. It asks people not just to witness the campaign, but to become part of it and contribute to a larger collective message.

Why Chalk?

Because chalk is for everyone of all ages, genders, races, sexual orientations, and backgrounds. There’s no barrier to entry. No expectation of artistic perfection. No right or wrong way to participate. Just a simple invitation: Show up, take up space, share something meaningful.

The messages written during Chalk the Block may eventually wash away, but the feeling of being seen, celebrated, and connected often lasts much longer. Public art has always played a role in cultural expression, activism, celebration, and collective storytelling. Chalk the Block brings that spirit into the heart of Pride week in a way that feels accessible, human, and deeply participatory.

A Pre-Pride Moment for the Community

Scheduled for June 4 at 6pm starting at Angles in OKC, Chalk the Block is intentionally positioned as an energy-building moment leading into one of Oklahoma City’s most visible Pride celebrations. It creates space for community members, allies, creatives, families, and attendees to gather before the larger event weekend and contribute to something shared.

Expect color. Expect conversation. Expect spontaneous moments of connection. Expect people stopping to read messages left by strangers. Expect reminders that community can be built in simple, beautiful ways.

Because that’s exactly what Love Louder is about.

More Than an Event Activation

For Prism Haus, Chalk the Block is not simply another experiential marketing idea.

It’s a reflection of the campaign’s deeper purpose.

Love Louder was never designed to function as a traditional promotional campaign. It was created as a community movement rooted in the belief that love is active, not passive. That showing up matters. That public acts of compassion and bravery create ripple effects.

Chalk the Block takes that belief and turns it into something people can physically interact with.

Instead of simply seeing a message, people become the message.

Join the Movement

If you’ve been looking for a way to participate in Pride week that feels creative, meaningful, and rooted in community, this is it. Bring your friends. Bring your family. Bring your boldest colors. Bring something you’ve been wanting the world to hear.

Whether you write one word or fill an entire area, your voice becomes part of something larger.

Because in a time where the world often asks people to stay quiet… we’re choosing to Love Louder.
